Meeting with Deputy Mayor Suzuki Nobuo in Isesaki, Japan
Welcome to the informational
page for the 2001 & 2008 Springfield Sister Cities Japan TripS In 2001, Pat's Clogging Studios &
Celtic Fire Irish Dance Co, were asked to represent Springfield,
Missouri in Isesaki, Japan. Musicians, cloggers, & Irish
dancers took part in parades, stage performances, and many other
activities in Isesaki. All participants stayed with
selected Japanese volunteer families. This experience
along with all the activities, was the chance of a lifetime for
all involved. After returning to Springfield, it was hard
to imagine where we had been, and what we were exposed to--it
took awhile--many were in shock! Of course it was all good
experiences! We were all treated with the upmost respect,
and kindness by the Japanese.
All of us traveling to Japan
worked on fundraisers to cover traveling costs. Some
waited tables at restaurants, danced in special performances,
donations, part time jobs, etc. The money gained was
divided between all.
In 2008, we returned for another performance in Isesaki, Japan by the
Sister Cities Association. At this point in time, we are
the first performance group to be asked for a return trip.
We are honored at this request. The 2008 trip--again
will give more new students the opportunity to perform, and have
the experience of a LIFETIME!
We at this time are taking
donations for the specific use of traveling expenses. All
money received will be divided between the participants, not to
exceed total costs.
